The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has formally acknowledged the outcome of the recent presidential election in the Republic of the Congo, as confirmed by the nation’s Constitutional Court, extending his congratulations to incumbent President H.E. Denis Sassou Nguesso on his re-election.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 30, the AUC Chairperson recognised the completion of the electoral process and praised the Congolese people for their participation and conduct throughout the election period.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum generated during the polls to further strengthen democratic values and national unity.

“The successful conduct of the election reflects the commitment of the Congolese people to democratic processes,” the statement noted, while encouraging all political actors and stakeholders to continue working collaboratively in the interest of peace and cohesion.
The African Union reiterated its longstanding position of supporting its member states in fostering stability and good governance.
In this regard, the organisation reaffirmed its readiness to assist the Republic of the Congo in advancing democratic governance, consolidating peace, and promoting sustainable development.
"The African Union reaffirms its readiness to support the people and Government of the Republic of the Congo in their efforts to consolidate stability, democratic governance, and development," the statement concluded.
