The AfriMass Network has received commendation from the Ghana Commission for UNESCO following the successful organisation of the Afrika Radio Business Mixer 2026, held to mark World Radio Day 2026.
In an official communication to the organisers, the Commission, on behalf of its Secretary-General, Prof. Osman Tahidu Damba, praised the event for its professionalism and alignment with UNESCO’s global theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence – AI is a Tool, Not a Voice".
The message, conveyed by Joan Agyekum Nsowah, Programme Officer (Communication and information) at the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, highlighted the depth of discussions and the quality of participation, noting that the event demonstrated a strong commitment to innovation, ethical broadcasting, and sustainable media development.
The Afrika Radio Business Mixer is a premier thought leadership and networking platform for Ghana’s radio and media industry. The 2026 edition brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including radio station owners and managers, broadcasters, content creators, students, advertising and media sales professionals, as well as technology and AI experts.
Participants also included policymakers and development partners, creating a dynamic space for dialogue on the future of radio in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The event provided a unique platform to explore the intersection of radio broadcasting, artificial intelligence, audience engagement, and revenue innovation, with practical insights on how the industry can remain competitive and relevant.
The endorsement from the Ghana Commission for UNESCO underscores the growing importance of the initiative within the broader context of media development, freedom of expression, and knowledge societies. The Commission further expressed appreciation for the collaboration and indicated its readiness to continue working with AfriMass Network on forward-looking media initiatives.
Responding to the commendation, Founder of AfriMass Network, Raymond Smith, described the recognition as both encouraging and affirming.
“On behalf of the AfriMass Network team and the entire organising committee, I sincerely appreciate the commendation from the Secretary-General and the Ghana Commission for UNESCO. Your support and partnership were instrumental in the successful delivery of the Afrika Radio Business Mixer in commemoration of World Radio Day 2026," he said.
He added that the positive feedback reflects a shared commitment to advancing innovation and sustainability within Ghana’s media space.
“We are particularly honoured that the event met the professional standards and thematic expectations aligned with UNESCO’s global focus on ‘Radio and Artificial Intelligence – AI is a Tool, Not a Voice.’ This affirms our commitment to shaping the future of Ghana’s media industry,” he noted.
AfriMass Network reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Ghana Commission for UNESCO and other stakeholders to promote responsible media practices, support freedom of expression, and drive innovation and digital transformation in broadcasting.
The Afrika Radio Business Mixer is expected to continue growing as a key platform shaping conversations around the future of radio and media businesses in Ghana and beyond.
