DOSH Health Insurance has been named Outstanding Digital Health Insurance Company of the Year at the 9th Ghana Business Standard Awards held in Accra.
The award recognises organisations demonstrating excellence, innovation and sustainable growth, while highlighting DOSH Health Insurance’s efforts to expand access to affordable and convenient health insurance through digital solutions.
Chief Executive Officer of DOSH Health Insurance, Frank Augustine Dagbui, received the award on behalf of the company.
DOSH Health Insurance has adopted a digital-first model that allows customers to register, select a plan, pay premiums and manage their health insurance coverage through multiple digital channels.
These include the ‘DOSH is Life’ App, CSR-assisted telephony, WhatsApp and the USSD shortcode *915#.
The company’s strategic partnership with MTN MoMo has also expanded access by allowing customers to use familiar mobile money platforms to activate and manage their health insurance coverage.
Commenting on the recognition, Mr Dagbui said the award validates the company’s approach to using technology to make health insurance easier to access.
“This recognition validates one of our core beliefs: that while we strive to always be on the leading edge of innovation, we will also ensure that the solutions we deliver are always practical and usable.”
He said the recognition also reflected the work of the company’s team in developing products designed to simplify access to health protection.
“It vindicates and validates the lofty goals we have set and reflects the immense hard work and diligence our team has put into the development of products that simplify the acquisition of health protection.”
Mr Dagbui stressed that technology should be used to remove barriers to healthcare rather than create new ones.
“We believe technology not only should, but must, eliminate barriers, not introduce them.”
He said DOSH Health Insurance would continue to develop practical digital solutions that make health insurance easier to access for Ghanaians.
The CEO added that the company would maintain its focus on customer experience while expanding its network and widening access to affordable health insurance across the country.
