If a cup of coffee is a regular part of your daily routine—but so is a glass of wine—you just might be interested in this new study: Drinking java may be linked with a reduced chance of liver cancer.

Research by the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research found a 14 percent reduced risk of liver cancer—which is often associated with daily alcohol consumption—for every cup of coffee consumed per day. The two organizations analyzed 34 studies, comprising 8.2 million people—24,500 of them had liver cancer.

Drinking too much alcohol has been shown to raise the risks of liver cancer, and this research suggests that the cancer-fighting antioxidants in coffee could help negate those effects. Coffee has also been shown to reduce stress levels, risk of stroke, type 2 diabetes, and give your memory a boost.

Back to the booze. The researchers concluded that drinking more than 1.5 ounces of alcohol per day (that equals about three drinks) can significantly increase the chances of getting liver cancer...but a regular intake of coffee seem to make a difference. (The researchers are still investigating as to exactly why.)

So, what are you waiting for? Go grab your morning cup of Joe.
