Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, is leading a Government delegation to the 2015 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC from April 14 to 24, 2015.
The delegation is made up of officials from the Bank of Ghana including the Governor; the Chairman of the Finance Committee in Parliament, and Officers from the Finance Ministry and the Bank of Ghana.
Aside the statutory meetings with the Fund and the Bank, the delegation will meet with the World Bank Vice President for Africa.
The delegation will also participate in seminars and forums such as the roundtable on “Increasing Agricultural Productivity in Africa: New Evidence to Guide Policy”; a seminar on “State of the Africa Region”; the IMF Fiscal Forum: The Transition to “Normality” - Implications for Fiscal Policy; and a seminar on “Meeting Africa’s Youth Employment Challenge”.
What is the Spring Meeting
Each spring, thousands of government officials, journalists, civil society organizations, and invited participants from the academia and private sectors, gather in Washington DC for the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF.
At the heart of the gathering are meetings of the joint World Bank-IMF Development Committee and the IMF's International Monetary and Financial Committee, which discuss progress on the work of the World Bank and the IMF.
Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world’s financial markets.
