A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Ekwow Spio-Gabrah, has urged Ghanaians to bear with the NDC government as it is bent on delivering its electoral promise of improving their lives.He said the NDC had a four-year mandate, and that the government was taking important steps in the areas of job creation, improvement in education, health care and infrastructure development to better the lot of Ghanaians by the end of that mandate.Dr Spio-Gabrah made the call in a speech read on his behalf by his representative, Mr Mohammed Seidu, when he donated GH¢1,000 to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, towards the Ramadan fast on behalf of Dr Spio-Gabrah.The GH¢ 1,000 was to assist the National Chief Imam in supporting needy Muslims during the fasting period.Dr Spio-Gabrah said the NDC campaigned on a slogan of a better Ghana, and that the party would not back down on its promiseHe said the social democratic programmes in the educational sector, health care, fight against corruption/drugs and the prudent management of the country's economy were still on the agenda of the government.Dr Spio-Gabrah who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, therefore, urged Ghanaians "to have patience since the NDC as a party in government will deliver on its electoral promises.""The NDC government will deliver on its electoral promise. So Ghanaians must be patient since the NDC has a four-year mandate," he said.On the donation, Dr Spio-Gabrah said he wanted to share in the blessings of the fasting month by extending his widow's might to the needy.He said he was aware that the National Chief Imam had several dependants, and that the gesture was a form of assistance to him.Sheikh Sharubutu thanked Dr Gabrah for the gesture; and used the occasion to pray for lasting peace and development in the country.Source: Daily Graphic
