Managing Director of the IMF, Christian Lagarde, says the success of Ghana's 3-year programme with the Fund will depend on managers of the economy.
The country last earlier this month secured the bailout programme with the Washington-based lender with the hope of restoring policy credibility, stimulate growth, create jobs and stabilise the economy.
However, responding to a question posed by Joy Business at press briefing on the sidelines of the Annual IMF/World Bank spring meetings, Ms Lagarde said actions of Ghanaian authorities is a key determiner of success of the programme.
She said the programme was negotiated based on proposals from managers of the economy, adding the Fund is willing to support the authorities to make things work as long as they are committed.
Under the programme, Ghana is expected to receive about 300 million dollars every year, spread over the next three years.
Already 114 million dollars hit Bank of Ghana's account earlier this week.
The $918 million financial assistance from International Monetary Fund should help government's effort to tame inflation, reduce a budget deficit and restore currency stability, all of which have stalled economic growth.
