The Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben North, Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman, has called for tolerance and co-operation among members of all political groupings in the country.
He said irrespective of one’s political affiliation, it was important for all to be united and lead exemplary lives as Christ did.
Mr Owusu-Agyemang was speaking at the 75th anniversary of the Effiduase St Theresa’s Catholic Church at the weekend.
The Vicar-General of the Koforidua Diocese, Rev Monsignor Francis Twum Barimah said the Church had come far and urged the congregation to use the occasion to renew their trust in God.
He said the church exists to correct the wrongs in society and so members must stand for justice and be each others' keeper.
The St Theresa’s Catholic Church was established by a few people from Effiduase and started worshiping at the house of the then Effiduasehene, Nana Kwaku Hyia, who was attracted by the worshipers to join the Church.
The church then moved to the Pope John Senior High School and finally to its present location, where it built its own church and commissioned it in 1992.
The Church, which started with a population of five persons, now has a membership of 800 worshippers.
Members, who had contributed to the growth of the church, including the MP, Mr Owusu-Agyemang, were honoured with citations.
