The Chairman of the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee, Mr. Samuel Odoi Sykes, says Mr P.C. Appiah Ofori is in parliament by accident and therefore does not deserve to be in the honourable house.
He says the Asikumah-Odoben Brakwa MP has demonstrated through his actions that he only wants the attention of the media and should therefore not be treated with any level of seriousness.
Mr. Odoi sykes was responding to allegations by P.C. Appiah Ofori that he (Odoi Sykes) is being biased against him over investigations into allegations that NPP MPs from 2005 to 2009 had collected $5,000 to approve Vodafone’s acquisition of 70% share of state-owned Ghana Telecom.
Hon. P.C Appiah Ofori, widely described as an anti-corruption crusader, has come under fire from his colleague NPP members and legislators for making the said allegation and have thus been challenged to produce evidence to substantiate his claim.
The NPP’s disciplinary committee has invited Mr. Appiah Ofori to establish the veracity of his allegations but committee chairman, Samuel Odoi Sykes tells Citi news, Mr. Appiah Ofori has failed twice to honour the invitation.
According to Mr. Odoi Sykes, PC Appiah Ofori has demonstrated clearly that his interest in the NPP has waned.
“I don’t have the time to waste on Appiah Ofori. He has demonstrated clearly that he has lost interest in the party. He is not an anti-corruption crusader. The man just wants the attention of the media. He wants to be given the opportunity to move from one station to the other condemning the NPP.” He said
The former High commissioner to Canada says for his consistent failure to appear before the NPP’s disciplinary committee, despite persistent attempts, P.C. Appiah Ofori should be neglected and “be treated with the contempt he deserves”.
Mr Odoi Sykes says, P.C. Appiah Ofori can quit the NPP if he so desires. He says it is a waste of time for the party to spend time on the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa MP.
“There are more important things to do in this country than to waste time on people like this…nobody is indispensable in this world. This man can leave the party today and the party will move forward.” He said.
