The Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Nii Lante Vanderpuye has stated that his outfit will make provision for affected women and children following the demolition of some structures at old Fadama popularly known as Sodom and Gomorah.

More than 20, 000 people have been rendered homeless following a demolition exercise by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

But the deputy minister in an interview with Joy News said government had made provisions for women and children affected by the exercise.

“We have agreed on how to settle the women and children who have been affected by the demolition and also agreed on how to organize those who willingly want to go back.

"We are also finalizing with the utility providers to restore electricity and water to the residents because during the demolishing these utilities were cut off.”

He added that his ministry is in the process of finalising arrangements to provide temporary structures for the affected women and children in the demolition exercise.

The Local Government Minister also said that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A) has made some adjustments to the scope of the demolition and will soon be communicating its next line of action.
