The Ghana Police Service has assured of adequate security in all Muslim communities during festivities this weekend to mark the end of Ramadan.
More personnel will be deployed to the various Zongo communities and entertainment centers to ensure adequate security during the Eid al-Fitr festivities.
A member of the Police Public Affairs, Supt Cephas Arthur has asked the public to go about their duties normally.
“We have put measures in place to create a convenient atmosphere for them to celebrate the festival without any hitch.
“We are going to deploy personnel to all places that need to be protected; we are going to send personnel to the beaches, restaurants and all entrainment centers to ensure that even in that jubilant mood the police are able to protect them and ward off miscreants”, he added.
Supt Arthur also cautioned youth in the various Muslim communities against flouting road traffic regulations during the celebrations.
“It has been observed that most of the time, this festival is characterized by motor riding and usually the motor traffic regulations are breached especially by the youth who are usually ride these motor bikes.
“We will continue the education to ensure that this kind of wild jubilations which usually endangers the lives of the youth themselves and other people are minimized”.
