Former NPP presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen says he does not believe internal wrangling within the party will diminish the party’s chances of recapturing power in 2012.“There is absolutely no problem in having different people pursuing different interests in terms of people they support in a political party; I think it is very normal,” he told Joy News’ Araba Koomson after a media interaction at his campaign office in Accra Monday night.The party’s ongoing constituency and regional elections have been bedevilled by allegations that supporters loyal to either Alan Kyerematen or Nana Akufo-Addo are manipulating the process to suit their interests.There are fears the bickering could further deepen cracks within the party but Mr Kyerematen disagrees.Mr Kyerematen speaks of what he describes as “the key” which is ensuring that “those activities are not disruptive.”“I think in Ghana when people have different opinions…we make a fetish out of it.”The former presidential aspirant told Joy News that he has been quietly working to help the party rebuild its structures following its electoral defeat last year.“You may not have been hearing of me on the air; in the national media but you can understand that as a politician the first responsibility is to make sure that my party is well-organised, well-structured to fight for the next election,” he said.“At the appropriate time, when I need to come out and talk about national issues, I’ll not hesitate to do so.”Mr Kyerematen was one of 17 who fought to become the NPP’s presidential candidate.
