The Ashanti Regional Delegates’ Conference of the New Patriotic Party is likely to be postponed indefinitely for the second time in less than a month due to pending court cases on alleged breach of party regulations in polling station and constituency elections.
The conference originally scheduled for 19th of this month was postponed to the 30th.
According to officials the postponement is to enable all constituencies conduct elections as well settle outstanding legal suits.
But with less than a week to the scheduled date, as many as 19 out of the 39 constituencies in the region are yet to hold election.
Nhyira News checks indicated that aspirants have not been vetted.
The NPP is plagued with infighting and litigation in its stronghold Ashanti Region, prompting the National Executive Council to intervene.
Chairman Peter Mac Manu was in the region last week in an effort to settle some of the cases.
Some aspirants who spoke to Nhyira News expressed dissatisfaction at current developments, and accused the leadership of inefficiency.
Former Regional Chairman, Fredrick Fredua Anto who is staging a come-back, told Nhyira FM the current executives are to blame for the party’s woes.
