President John Evans Atta-Mills has applauded Members of Parliament (MPs) for their contributions towards consolidating the country's democratic credentials.
He said as the nation thrives to put the economy on track and. improve the lives of the majority of the people, they must remain focused and resolute towards the vision espoused by the government
The President said this when he met some MPs and government officials at the Castle, Osu, last Monday night
He said there were occasions when the House was divided on political lines in arriving at a decision in the conduct of business, but said members were able to deal with their divergent views, making their constituents concern paramount.
President Mills said these differences in opinion in the House were not worrying, provided they led to our objective of moving forward in the right direction."
This is an opportunity to have a 'bigthank'. This is the first time of meeting you to break bread and exchange ideas," he said.
He commended the Speaker and the leadership of the House for the good work done in the year.
The President announced that he would embark on "a thank you tour of the Greater Accra Region next week Tuesday, hoping to meet all of you to exchange ideas towards moving the country forward".
