The Campaign Director in charge of Communications of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo campaign team for Election 2008, Dr Arthur Kwabena Kennedy, says he would be vindicated in the long run despite the huge flak he has received for publishing a book critical of his own party.
“In the long run, I will be vindicated as a true son of my party who was bold enough to draw its attention to things that bring [it] defeat again so we can go on to greater victory,” he said.
Dr Kennedy said this in reference to the massive flak he has in recent times received over his book titled "Chasing the Elephant into the Bush: The Politics of Complacency.”
The book is deemed by critics as overly critical of the main opposition NPP after its defeat in the 2008 elections.
The book, which Dr Kennedy describes a trail blazer, sought to present an analyses of the campaign of the NPP, touching on what the author believes were loopholes in the campaign that resulted in the defeat of the party.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show from his base in the United States, the former campaign director said his critics must “look at the truth squarely in the face” by thoroughly reading the book before they unleash their venom on quite unjustifiably.
He cited two learned founders of the party whom he said would “never accept the culture of condemning a book that people have not read.”
“This book is a mail to our party and to our country to tell us where we are in the development curve,” he said.
Dr Kennedy said several individuals in the party contributed enormous material to the book although he failed to mention names.
The medical doctor says he has a strong belief that the opposition party will rise up to recapture power in the 2012 elections.
