Information reaching Joy News indicates that police fired tear gas in Tamale in the Northern Region to disperse an angry mob at the NPP regional delegates' congress.
The fracas came about as heavily built young men tried to breach protocol and enter the auditorium where the elections are due to take place.
They were prevented from entering the place because they had no accreditation.
The men did not understand why they were denied access to the auditorium and started puting up a violent behaviour, warranting police intervention.
Unconfirmed reports say one of them has been shot dead.
Meanwhile calm has been restored and the elections process is proceeding smoothly.
Details soon.
