Mr Nick Afari-Arthur, a leading member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) at Aburi-Nsawam constituency in the Akuapem South Municipality has urged the youth to take their academic studies seriously to become responsible leaders in future.
Mr Afari-Arthur made the call when he launched a GH¢10,000 educational fund at Nsawam to support the less privilege from Junior High School (JHS) to the tertiary level to raise the standard of education in the area.
According to him, he had been inspired by the late Dr Nkwame Nkrumah's free education concept which gave poor families the opportunity to educate their children who are today contributing in various ways and helping to shape the destiny of the nation.
Mr Afari-Arthur commended the government for donating free school uniforms and the increasing in the capitation grant saying," it was a good gesture which would go a long way in encouraging pupils to be in school".
Mr Peter Ampofo, CPP Aburi-Nsawam Constituency Secretary, extolled Mr Afari-Arthur for creating the fund and advised the would-be beneficiaries to study hard so that the objective of setting up the fund are achieved.
