New Patriotic Party delegates in the Ashanti Region have voted out their regional chairman at their regional conference in Kumasi.
Yaw Amankwaah polled 267 votes, losing to his main contender F.F. Frederick who had 429 votes to secure the position of Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Mr Amankwaah, who was reportedly not in the good books of the NPP’s flagbearer for Election 2008, Nana Akufo-Addo, has duly accepted defeat, reports Joy News correspondents.
Other results include First Vice Chairman which went to Alhaji Musah Sheriff who bagged 395 votes to beat his closest rival Nana Okyere Tawiah who polled 204 votes.
Kwabena Senkyere polled 367 votes to secure the position of Second Vice Chairman whilst Samuel Pyne had 435 votes to take the position of Regional Secretary.
The Deputy Regional Secretary position went to Kwame Asante with 435 votes whilst Hagar Asante had 456 votes to become the new treasurer.
The new Regional Youth Leader is Gideon Boako with 393 votes and Alberta Owusu Ansah had 353 votes to become the party’s Women’s Organiser for the region.
