The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has set up a seven-member committee to explore possibilities of holding a national congress this year. The committee, chaired by the General Secretary Bernard Bernard Mornah, is also tasked with the responsibility of assessing the cost of elections from the polling station level to national congress.National Chairman Alhaji Ramadan said the committee must submit its report by the end of February to be considered by a NEC meeting in March.“If we find it to be suitable…then we can adopt it and work with it towards a congress by the end of the year,” Alhaji Ramadan told Joy News.Alhaji Ramadan warned of imposters who he said are pressuring party leaders to declare unity within the Nkrumahist family.“We have some people who purport to be coming from CPP, going round the delegates, talking to our regional chairmen, asking them to declare unity without the consent of the national executive. We felt it was not right; we said our doors are always open,” he added. The PNC has long been considering an early congress to elect new national executives to manage the party’s affairs towards elections in 2012.The party's performance in the last election was abysmal, securing less than one percent in the polls.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
