Government says it has allocated a house to ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor. The facility, which is expected to be part of the ex-president’s ex-gratia package, is located at the Airport Residential Area.Deputy Information Minister James Agyenim Boateng who disclosed this to Joy News said both government and Mr Kufour’s “team” did “agree” on the allocation of the facility.“What you do not know at all is that government and the team of H.E. Mr Kufuor, the former president, have over a long period agreed on a place that is around the Airport Residential Area, which Mr Kufuor and his team…are in the know [of] and government and both sides have agreed,” he said.According to Mr Agyenim Boateng, government is currently renovating the facility for Mr Kufuor.Meanwhile spokesperson to Mr Kufuor, Frank Agyekum, says Mr Agyenim Boateng’s information is untrue.According Mr Agyekum the former president has no knowledge of any such arrangement.“I am amazed, very much amazed that Mr Agyenim Boateng could say such a thing because no such thing has happened. I can tell you that it is completely and totally untrue. No such arrangement has been made between the government and former president Kufuor. Nobody has gone anywhere to inspect anything from former president Kufuor’s office and no offer has come from government to him. So I’m very much amazed and astounded that Mr Agyenim could say such a thing. I can assure you that it is totally false and untrue,” Mr Agyekum said. The developments come after the former president was driven out from an apartment government sources say Mr Kufuor acquired for himself before leaving office.Since then there has been a lot of back-and-forth over a state-provided accommodation for the former president as he currently lives in his own house.Listen to the voices of Messrs Agynim Boateng and Frank AgyekumStory by Fiifi Koomson/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
