Domestic airline Starbow has received an Operational Safety Audit Certification from the International Air Transport Association IATA in what is expected to boost the airline’s marketability.

The certification is an endorsement of the airline’s safety standards. It is considered a remarkable milestone in Starbow’s quest to maintain a safe and secure operational environment for its customers, staff and stakeholders.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.

The IOSA audit covers all aspects of the airline’s operations affecting flight, safety, including maintenance and flight operation, ground handling, cargo transportation and company management.

“It has taken us about two and half years to achieve this standard” CEO of Starbow James Eric Antwi told Joy Business.

The journey for achieving IOSA started in 2013 when Starbow was privileged to be selected by IATA alongside 10 other African airlines to undergo an Implementation Training Programme in three hands-on workshops.

The workshops offered by IATA were based on the identification of IOSA gaps leading to the creation of an action plan by Starbow with accountabilities, timelines and measurements of progress and deliverables.

Starbow’s certification raises the airline’s appeal as an airline with high safety standards.
