Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Bechem Chelsea 2-0 in their mid-week outstanding Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday.
Kotoko who lost 0-1 to Aduana Stars at Dormaa Ahenkro last Sunday showed their determination to vent their spleen on Chelsea as they went ahead to score the opener in the third minute of the game through Edward Affum in a goal mouth melee.
The 'Porcupine Warriors', earlier, saw their first goal disallowed just a minute inside the game by Referee Vivian Agor, who looked inactive throughout the duration of the game.
Baffour Gyan's shot hit the inner part of the cross bar and looked to have clearly crossed the goal line but the referee decided otherwise.
Chelsea accepted the challenge and made some daring incursions, most of them resulting in corners kicks, but all were wasted.
Frank Boateng made it two for Kotoko in the 27th minute in a swift counter attack when he drove through many legs of the Chelsea defence before planting the ball in the blind side of goalkeeper Maxwell Osei Banahene in post for Chelsea.
The visitors nearly pulled back a goal in the 44th minute but Edward Shearer fumbled in front of a goal when he was presented with a clear chance.
Chelsea came back strongly in the second half wasting another chance in the 46th minute by Issaka Ibrahim.
Kotoko brought on Kwadwo Poku for Baffour Gyan in the 52nd minute for the striker to announce his presence with a perfect pass to Kabiru Imoro but he messed up the opportunity.
Both teams exhausted their substitution but the changes seemed to favour the visitors as Kotoko resorted to a defensive play to consolidate their sweet victory till the final whistle.Source: GNA
