Former ministers under the Kufuor administration have threatened to take government on for placing an embargo on their remaining end of service benefits. They claim government has consistently delayed payment of their monies despite numerous assurances from the Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffour.Their threat follows media reports that government has directed the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to stop the payment of cheques issued on March 23 for the ex ministers. The former ministers affected include former Deputy Trade Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, former Minister of State at the Water Resources, Works and Housing Ministry Cecelia Dapaah and former Agric Minister Ernest Debrah. They say government has failed to give reasons for withholding their gratuities.Former Ashanti Regional Minister Emmanuel Owusu Ansah says government is being unfair.“We are not going to allow the matter to lie fallow that way; we are going to take it up and confront the government,” he said.According to him, he would meet with the others affected by the situation to ensure that their monies are paid them.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
