Deputy Local Government Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has condemned what appears to be the freedom of lawlessness by some supporters of the ruling party.
Some supporters across the country have been on rampage, seizing public toilets, offices of National Health Insurance Scheme, as well those of the National Youth and Employment programme.
They have in rather violent demonstrations, demanded of government to sack some personnel of the NYEP and NHIS ostensibly because they were appointed by the erstwhile NPP government.
Last week, the youth turned their anger on the Chairman of the Assets Confiscation Committee, Carl Wilson, demanding his dismissal, and in the process locked the offices of the National Headquarters of the party.
The situation worsened with the NDC youth in Yendi asking government to dismiss the Municipal Chief Executive of the party, Imoro Hudu Welvis, or they would kill the MCE.
As a precautionary measure, the MCE appears to have embarked on a self-imposed exile, with his whereabouts not known, or rather, will not be disclosed by the police.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, in an interview with Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh said this is the end of the straw and the party will take no more the misbehaviour of the supporters.
He condemned in no uncertain terms the threats of death issued to Imoro Hudu Welvis, saying the party will not countenance any such behaviour.
He said he is “embarrassed“ and “angry“ at the same time with the behaviour of the NDC, more so when their leader, the President, is a disciplined law professor.
Elvis Afriyie urged the aggrieved supporters to exercise restraint and be patient as government tries to address the problem of unemployment in the country.
