Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alban Kingsford Bagbin, has taken a swipe at the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region for washing their dirty linen in public. He says the practice where people take their grievances directly to the Castle should be discontinued. The minister says the region has leaders who are nationally and internationally recognized and have shown they can solve its problems.Alban Bagbin was speaking to Joy News on the recent petition sent to President Mills by the regional executives of the party calling for the removal of the Regional Minister Mahmud Khalid.Party executives in the region are in a tango with Mr Khalid and have called on the President to give the regional minister his marching orders. The situation compelled the President to call a meeting at the Castle last Monday between the executives and the minister in an attempt to resolve the impasse. But Mr Bagbin said that is not good enough for the party. He said it is improper for party officials to head to the Castle at the slightest misunderstanding.“It is intolerable for people to leave always at any sign of differences straight to Accra, the Castle, to see the President. That should be discontinued; even [people who] are not members of our party are very concerned about it,” he said.He also blamed the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for adopting a similar style in the region during their reign which did not help matters. The Works and Housing Minister appealed to members of the party in the region not to wash their dirty linen in public because the region is endowed with personalities recognized both nationally and internationally capable of finding a lasting solution to the problem.“We have shown that we have the capacity,” he added.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
