The campaign team of Alan Kyerematen, an NPP flag bearer aspirant, says it has stumbled on reports of vile campaign methods to be adopted by his detractors to make his candidature unpopular.
The team says one of such methods is a report making the rounds that Mr Kyerematen cannot be a good leader because he failed to deliver hundred bags of cement and 15 packets of roofing sheets he promised for fire victims at the Kumasi Central market.
But spokesperson of the Alan Kyerematen Campaign Team, Yaw Buabeng-Asamoah in an exclusive interview with Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah, accused detractors of Mr. Kyerematen of being behind what he described as a cheap political campaign.
Mr. Kyerematen on June 11, 2009, in the company of then Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, Yaw Amankwaah promised the traders of his contribution to help them rebuild stores they lost to fire.
A few days later, the rebuilding of the market facility became a bone of contention between city authorities and traders who opposed the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s plans to rebuild the market.
Mr. Buabeng-Asamoah says Mr. Kyerematen has been looking forward to to resolution of the impasse between the traders and city authorities to enable him know where to send his promised contribution.
Mr. Kyerematen is on a two-week campaign tour of the Ashanti Region and was overwhelmingly endorsed at the weekend by party supporters who are mostly the youth at Akrofrom.
He is expected to continue the tour in Odotobri and Amansie West respectively constituencies.
