Palmwine tappers who took New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie to the cleaners over what they described as an ‘unwarranted statement’ about their profession have sparked again.
Mr Afriyie said a month ago that while he was pursuing his university education, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia was tapping palmwine.
This angered some palmwine tapers in the Ashanti Region who called on him to apologize to face the consequence.
Mr Afriyie refused their request, arguing he was not referring to palmwine tappers in general but the group believe Sir John has not been fair to their profession.
Following this, some palmwine tappers at Nhyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region are threatening to prevent any NPP flag-bearer aspirant to campaign in their area.
Spokesperson for the group, Kwabena Owusu, says Sir John’s decision reflects the party’s stands.
