Police in Cape Coast are holding five suspects who were part of the violent attacks, Sunday that left one person dead and several properties destroyed.
The five were part of 36 others arrested shortly after the violent attacks between angry residents of Cape Coast and the police.
But Joy FM's Central Region correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reported, Monday, 31 of the suspects were released leaving behind the five suspects.
According to him, the five are being investigated for other charges including drug related offences.
They have been remanded in prison custody to reappear in two weeks.
The precincts of the Central Region Police Station was a hot bed of violence Sunday as cutlass and cudgel wielding men invaded the premises of the police station shattered the windscreen of over ten vehicles and destroyed some properties.
The angry men were protesting what they claim was a swoop by the police on suspected criminals in the area on Thursday which led to the death of an innocent man.

They claimed the man, Kwasi Sabado was manhandled by the police until he died.
In their fury they destroyed properties belonging to the police on Sunday.
The police were reported to have returned fire again on Sunday to disperse the rampaging youth.
One more person has been confirmed dead as a result of Sunday's violence bringing the death toll to two.
According to Kojo Nyarko the police are denying the claim that the bullet that killed the deceased person came from the police.
They have however begun investigations into the matter.
