A woman claiming to be a supporter of the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential aspirant Prof Frimpong Boateng is accusing some supporters of Nana Akufo-Addo another aspirant of the NPP flag-bearership race of assaulting her. Maame Araba, alleged that staunch supporters, of the former NPP flag bearer, including one Hajia Fati pounced on her, tore her dress into shreds when she attempted to paste a poster of Prof Fimpong Boateng on the walls of the party’s National Head quarters on Tuesday. According to her, she and her colleague were ordered to remove the poster close to that of Nana Addo’s but they resisted, culminating in the clashes and the assault. She said the assault came to her as a surprise, more so when they represent the same party. Maame Araba said a security man at post at the national office also joined in the assault and in the process had her dress and brazier torn with few slaps on her face. She has since reported the case to the police who have began investigations into the matter. Meanwhile, Prof Frimpong Boateng has expressed regrets over the matter but has called for calm. He does not believe Nana Akufo-Addo or any of his campaign officials will roll out a campaign of intimidation against his sympathizers. Speaking to Joy News the flag bearer candidate called on the party leaders to show firmness and fairness in regulating activities leading to the primaries which has been scheduled for August 7, 2010.
