Consummate politicians from the opposition New Patriotic Party, well wishers, including President John Mills Thursday thronged Christ the King Church Hall to bid farewell to Mr JB Da Rocha who died early February this year. The astute lawyer and former chairman of the New Patriotic Party died after a short illness in what many party stalwarts say is an irreplaceable loss to the party. At a burial ceremony, contenders for the party’s vacant slot of a flagbearer position( Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyeremanten) retired, at least for a moment, from the heated campaign grounds to the peaceful solemn walls of the Christ the King Hall to pay their last respect to Rocha who was a rock of the party.Ex-president Kufuor and ex-vice president Alhaji Aliu Mahama, were all present at the occasion.Party Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey told Joy News Da Rocha was an “extremely sensible man” whose experience and contribution to the party cannot be overemphasized. His death he said must be a uniting force for the many members of the party. He said members may not necessarily be friends but must be able to work together for the good of the party.Alhaji Aliu Mahama said Da Rocha left behind unblemished political credentials which up and coming politicians must emulate.Members of the Ghana Bar Association led by the Attorney General, Betty Mould Iddrisu, as well as the Chief Justice Theodora Georgina Wood were all present.JB Da Rocha was once the President of the Ghana Bar Association. He will be buried at his hometown, Cape Coast on Thursday.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
