The Eastern Regional Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Bismark Tawiah Boateng has condemned the behavior of the so-called foot soldiers who are bent on destroying the image of the ruling party.''We know for a fact that the so-called foot soldiers have the backing of some devious high ranking members of the party, but the earlier they desist from their nefarious activities the better it would be for them."He added, "They must know that in their bid to encouraging the foot soldiers to wage war against their own party, they are providing weapons for our opponents to use against us in the 2012 campaign activities."According to him, he has observed for sometime, the bizarre behavior of the so-called foot soldiers, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.Notwithstanding the fact that the country's constitution allows for freedom of association and speech, the government appointee underscored that the same constitution frowns on negative activities of any association or individuals and, therefore, called on them to put a stop to the behavior.Recounting some of the incidents, Mr. Boateng indicated that it was nauseating to hear that foot soldiers had forcibly taken over toilets, National Health Insurance offices, Toll booths and agitating for the removal of Regional Ministers and Municipal and District Chief Executives. He cited a scene created at New Abirem District Assembly in the Eastern Region, where the youth and some executive members took the law into their hands and locked the offices of the DCE and District Coordinating Director.According to him, the situation was no different at Asuogyaman district, where the youth and so-called foot soldiers arrogated to themselves the power to forcibly hijack the collection of tolls at Adomi Bridge Toll Booth.Source: Chronicle
