Ghana’s number one entertainment radio station, Hitz FM is taking the 'Hottest DJ' competition to the West Hills Mall in Accra.
The show, aimed at unearthing the next big talent in deejaying, was launched in October to give aspiring and practising DJs an avenue to exhibit their talents and win attractive prizes.
The competition, hosted by Mercury Quaye, host of the Cruise Control on Hitz FM, started with 32 contestants who were later shortlisted to 18.
Ten out of the 18 contestants were shortlisted last weekend at an outdoor event at 'Jerusalem Pub' in New Achimota after thrilling audience on the turn tables with spectacular performances.
Speaking to Hitz @ 1, Programmes Coordinator for Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey said, he was impressed at the support the contestants received at the Jerusalem Pub.
Mark, who was also impressed with the performance of the contestants added that the contestants have taught him never to give up.
“We have seen some of them whose performances were nothing to write home about but on the night, from nowhere, stones that builders refused became the cornerstone,” Mark noted.
Five of the ten contestants will be shortlisted from the West Hill Mall to the finale, scheduled for Christmas Eve, December 24, 2015 at the Junction Mall.
It will be part of an event dubbed the 'Turn Up Party' where the five finalists are expected to compete for honours.
