Officials found to have acted in a criminal way to stall the take-off of the newly created Biakoye District Assembly would face prosecution.
Dr Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), gave the hint at a conference of the Party's Regional Chairmen in Ho at the weekend.
Dr Adjei alleged that the portion of the Legislative Instrument (L.I) which designated the capital of the new district was tampered with when it left Parliament after 21 days to the relevant departments for implementation.
Dr Adjei alleged that the page containing the L.I. which designated Nkonya-Ahenkro as the capital was removed and substituted with another one which mentioned another town in the new district as the capital.
He said that action, which he described as "criminal," led to confusion and had since held back the functioning of that assembly and the development of the new district.
Dr Adjei said there was nothing he would benefit personally whether Nkonya-Ahenkro where he hailed from or some other town in the new district became the capital but the truth must be established and criminality punished.
The Biakoye District was carved out of the Jasikan District under ex-President Kufuor's administration.
