A presidential aspirant of the NPP, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has condemned what he says is the attitude of some people who hijack the party for their parochial interests.“National prosperity is within reach if only we unite and move forward from the looming disaster of our great party [NPP] being hijacked for the pursuit of personal ambitions and self seeking adventure.”Speaking at the launch of his presidential campaign bid at the Christ the King Hall in Accra Wednesday, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng reiterated that the NPP lost the 2008 general elections due to complacency, but was quick to add that “the NPP may be down but not out”.He promised to work against violence, personal antagonism and selfishness that are dividing the NPP’s front.He was hopeful the NPP will recapture power under his proactive leadership to bring hope and rekindle the pride in Ghanaians, especially the youth and women.He said he has great hope in the youth who when given the opportunity would be able to deliver.“I want to inspire the young Ghanaian to seek virtue in sacrificing to work for the future of our country."He decried the raging indiscipline that has become “the order of the day” in the country, total disregard for the environment and corrupt practices.Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said he is not in the race because “it is his birthright”, but he is genuinely seeking the people’s mandate “to serve the nation” and not for “personal ambition”.He said he would use modern technology to tap the natural resources that abound in the country, especially in the agricultural sector. He cautioned the youth from allowing politicians to exploit them and later abandon them.
