The regional executives of the People's National Convention (PNC)in the Northern Region could face possible sanctions after unilaterally forming an alliance with the Convention People's Party (CPP).The executives in the region concluded unity talks with the CPP and agreed to present a single parliamentary candidate for the region in the 2012 general elections. This has not gone down well with the National executives of the party and are planning to take punitive measures against the regional executives.National Chairman of the party Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan told Joy News the decision was taken without due consultation and approval from the national executives. He noted the decision could potentially undermine the authority of the national executives of the party.Even though the PNC in principle is not against uniting with the CPP, Alhaji Ramadan said due process and party structures must be followed.According to him, the national executives have expressed their desire to unite with the CPP but concrete decision has not been made in that regard and regretted the decision by the Northern Region executives to jump the gun.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
