The Campaign team of the Alan Kyerematen, a presidential hopeful of New Patriotic Party has dragged the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalist Association before the National Media Commission for acts they consider unprofessional on his part. The Campaign team says Nana Yaw Osei declared that another Presidential hopeful Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo will win the NPP Presidential primaries.By that action, the GJA Chairman in their opinion has shown gross indiscretion and bias as a media person and therefore must resign his post at Daily Graphic in the Ashanti Region as well as step down as GJA President in the Ashanti Region.
A member of the Alan team in the Ashanti Region, Kwadwo Owusu Boakye says Nana Yaw Osei is dragging the name of the Journalism in the mud.Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Boakye indicated that the petition sent to the NMC has been copied to the BBC, the Associated Press among other Professional journalistic bodies for their action.
But the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association Nana Yaw Osei has denied the allegations.Nana Yaw Osei says as a Journalist, what he did that has been described as an endorsement of the Nana Akufo-Addo was express his opinion on the NPP's flag-bearership race - something he is entitled to.He quoted various portions of the GJA Code of ethics to support his argument that media men were not barred from commenting on national issues.Story: Kojo Asare Baffuor-Acheampong/Asempa News/Ghana
