Former President Jerry John Rawlings has mounted scathing attacks on President John Evans Atta Mills for what he described as his inability to move the country forward as promised.Mr Rawlings revealed his disenchantment against the government in an address to commemorate the June 4 uprising to thousands of NDC cadres and fanatics of the 1979 revolution in Tamale in the Northern Region on Friday.“Today when we take one step forward, we take two steps backwards, two steps forward, two and half steps backwards. We took several steps forward in 2000, they [the NPP government] took as back again, now 2008 we (NDC administration] have taken over, we are expected to move forward but we do not move forward.”His indignation could be inferred from the fact that President Mills is perceived to be slow in hauling to court officials who served under the Kufuor regime that were believed to be corrupt.To chants of agreement from the teeming supporters, Former President Rawlings impressed upon President Mills to investigate the atrocities committed by the NPP government and bring justice to the people, which he said is a foremost means of breathing a sense of unity and belonging into the populace after former President Kufuor, he claimed, had “sowed chaos and disunity” in the society.
