The Police in Accra have shot and killed one of the prime murder suspects in last year's Teshie Chieftaincy clashes and another at Nmai-Dzorn in Accra.

Accra Police PRO, ASP Afia Tenge told journalists at a press conference that Adeshie Bagadzie and Isaac Adjei died on arrival at the hospital after Sergeant Adoe opened fire on them.

She said the incident occurred at midnight, Wednesday when a Police team went to Nmai-Dzorn upon a tip off to arrest suspect, Adeshie.

The police were acting upon a tip-off and had gone to the area to effect the arrest Adeshie with a warrant issued for his arrest and four others.

But Sargeant Adoe opened fire after the two began to attack the police with knives, machetes and other offensive weapons, Joy News’ Beatrice Adu reported.

“When the police realized their lives were in danger, they opened fire and the two died upon arrival at the hospital,” ASP Afia Tenge confirmed.

She added that a team of investigators were at the scene Thursday morning to pick up more information on the incident that led to the death of the two.

The police officer who shot the two, Sergeant Adoe, has since been detained to help in the investigations.

On the 25^th of April 2015, one person was murdered after a chieftaincy dispute erupted at Teshie during the Homowo festival celebrations.

Adeshie and others were suspected to have played a role in the murder. The police therefore sought and obtained a court warrant for his arrest.

About five suspects have arrested and arraigned before court for their alleged roles in the murder.

Joy News checks indicate that the shooting has become a major talking point in Nmai-Dzorn as family members gather in the bullet-ridden mud building - where the incident occurred - to mourn the two.

Residents say Adeshie was innocent and had nothing to do with the murder at Teshie last year.
