The campaign team of Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen of has expressed “surprise” at media publication that he was prevented from entering Yendi on his extended campaign tour of the three northern regions.
“This is to categorically refute any such spurious claims. To help clarify matters, Team Alan was advised by the Chairman of the Yendi Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that due to heightened tension in the Municipality, it would not be prudent to have a political meeting within Yendi at the time.
“Respecting the imperative of law and order and in the interest of peace and unity, Team Alan voluntarily decided to postpone the scheduled meeting. At no point was Team Alan compelled or coerced by any person or group not to go into Yendi.” A statement issued by the campaign team and signed by its spokesperson Yaw Buaben Asamoa said.
It also refuted another story that suggested Mr. Kyerematen’s meeting in Tamale Central Constituency was disrupted by thugs.
Rather, it said: “On the contrary, Team Alan had a very successful meeting in Tamale at the Centre for National Culture where party delegates from Tamale Central, Tamale North and Tamale South constituencies met the aspirant consecutively.
