Joy Sports editor, Ernest Koranteng reports that staff of the Ghana Football Association prevailed on a livid Milovan Rajevac to accept an apology by Sulley Muntari after he went offensive after the Black Stars drew with Australia.
Sulley is alleged to have criticised coach Rajevac for sitting him (Sulley) too long on the bench in the game, a decision he thinks contributed to Ghana's 'poor showing' against Australia.
He believes the Black Stars would have bagged maximum points if he had been allowed more playing time in the game.
Coach Rajevac is reported to have grudgingly accepted the apology, however he maintained that while the disrespectful Inter Milan player could be allowed to stay in camp, he considers only 22 players - excluding Sulley Muntari - as members of his team.
This has effectively reduced Muntari to a percher.
The GFA has, in a statement, confirmed media reports that Sulley Muntari acted in a manner that was offensive to the Black Stars' Code of Conduct.
Press Statement
The Ghana Football Association confirms that player Sulley Muntari is still a member of the Black Stars team at the World Cup in South Africa.
We wish to state that Sulley Muntari reacted angrily and in a manner that was offensive to the team’s Code of Conduct in the aftermath of Ghana’s game against Australia on the 19th June 2010 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg.
He was accordingly reprimanded for his behaviour with the player explaining that, his actions were borne out of his frustration by the team’s inability to record a win.
Sulley has since recognised his misconduct and apologised to the Management, technical team and playing body of the Black Stars.
The player has also reiterated his commitment and loyalty to the team and his readiness to play and give of his utmost best to the team.
