A Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says government has not rejected the National Youth Policy.According to him, the policy is only being reviewed by sub-committee of cabinet to make it more "concise."Acting Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council, Sekou Nkrumah had early on told Joy FM the policy had been rejected by cabinet ostensibly because it did not meet the vision and ideology of the ruling party.He also said the Ministry of Youth and Sports had been tasked to formulate a new youth policy and had two weeks within which to do that.But Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah told Joy News’ Stephen Anti, that can only be attributed to a “communication error.”He explains the policy bequeathed to the NDC by the erstwhile NPP government was too voluminous and needs to be re-looked at.The cabinet sub-committee, he said, has been tasked to ensure that the new policy is well understood by both policy makers and the intended readers.He said the review of the policy will not be “too substantial,” adding the new policy will give the direction and vision that the policy has for the youth.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
