Stephen Appiah led Ghana to a round of 16 finish at their maiden appearance at the World Cup in 2006.Four years on, the 29 year-old midfielder stands on the threshold of making history, with Ghana closing in on a semi-final place at the competition, which would be the first by an African side.Ghana became the third side from the continent to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup after Cameroon in 1990 and Senegal in 2002.Now faced with a crucial quarter-final clash against Uruguay on Friday, Appiah insists Milovan Rajevac’s side are capable of making history."I think that history is always history," Appiah said about reaching the last eight."Now it's our turn. Now that we're there, it's history for Ghana.
