The following is the first stanza of a poem by the Pan-Africanist writer and Poet, Professor Attukwei Okai, dedicated to the Black Stars of Africa.
Prof. Attukwei Okai was in the studios of Joy FM to render the entire poem, (play attached audio), which extolls the exploits of the Shining Black Stars at the 2010 World Cup. It also seeks to encourage them to march forward.
Across the multiple time-zones
Of the African soul
With a calabash of water
From the Blue and White Niles
From the Zambesi and the Victoria
Falls,
O Creator of the drops of water
That cover
Three-quarters of the surface
Of the earth
That give birth to our daily bread
Your praises,
O Lord Almighty!
Allahu Akbar!
Listen to the full performance in the attached audio. You can also read the complete poem by Prof. Attukwei Okai here.
