The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central Adamu Dramani has been ordered to open his defence to three criminal charges against him.An Fast Track High Court in Accra ruled that Mr. Dramani must face charges of perjury, false declaration and deceit of public officer. The prosecution led evidence to suggest that the MP owed allegiance to two other countries at the time of filing nomination papers for elections in 2008.Lawyers for the MP say they are happy that six of the charges have been dropped. Mr. Dramani tells Joy News he is confident his lawyers will get the court to strike out the outstanding charges.Earlier this year the MP won a civil suit filed by a cattle dealer challenging his eligibility to be MP on grounds that he held dual citizenship. But his legal battles were compounded when the Attorney General filed a criminal case against him.Charges levelled against him included forging his passport, false declaration and unauthorised voting. The MP’s Lawyers had made a submission of no case but will now have to open their defence in respect of the counts of perjury, false declaration and deceit of public officer.Story by Myjoyonline.com/Joy News/Ghana
