The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has said it is working to commission a committee to investigate circumstances surrounding the Kintampo carnage.
NRSC said as part of its mandate in ensuring road safety, it has to ascertain the cause of the accident and work on putting measures in place to forestall future happenings of the same nature.
Speaking to Joy News, Assistant Planning Officer of the Commission, Charles Oduro Kwarteng, said the NRSC is working with management of Metro Mass Company Limited to find out what went wrong with the driver or the vehicle.
“We see this particular accident as a big blow to our cause”, he said and, “the commission is working tirelessly to find out the cause of it.”
He said the Commission has been engaging other stakeholders to get to the root of the accident.
A Metro Mass bus said to be carrying 81 passengers rammed into a cargo truck on the Tamale-Kintampo highway on February 17.
The crash killed over 63 people, with 23 injured survivors who are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country.
