Alhaji Bature of the National Democratic Congress is counselling Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana's first President Kwame Nkrumah, to hand in his resignation from the government of President J.E.A. Mills.
Bature, who was speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme on Tuesday, said even though people are free to speak their minds in a democracy, there are also the issues of collective responsibility and loyalty which Sekou should have adhered to.
Sekou Nkrumah, appointed National Coordinator of the National Youth Council, has criticised the leadership style of President Mills, saying the president is more of an academician than a political leader.
But According to Bature, failing to observe that official discipline, it would serve Sekou better to hand in his resignation letter since he has lost faith in the appointing president, under whom he (Bature) would find it very difficult to work (if he found himself in Sekou's shoes).
He said what Sekou did was to question the competence of the president and saw no need therefore to keep on in his administration. He must therefore resign honourably.
