The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it suspects the National Youth Organizer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Kwabena Bomfeh, to be a mole in the party planted by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The accusation, contained in a statement issued by the party and signed by the NDC’s Propaganda Secretary, Richard Quashigah, said the NDC has observed “the utterances, association and action of Mr. Bomfeh over the last three years, one is amply convinced that he is being used by the NPP to create the impression that they are not alone in the unreasonable effort of preventing a project that is intended to benefit the larger interest of Ghana.”
Kwabena Bomfeh on Monday filed a suit at the Supreme Court challenging the legality of the controversial STX Housing Project between the Government of Ghana and Korea construction firm STX Korea, and seeking among other reliefs, a declaration that it is null and void.
The NDC expressed ‘surprise’ that the CPP National Youth Organizer had gone to the Supreme Court with the intent of preventing Parliament from approving the STX Housing Project.
“It is not in doubt that the STX Project is a Pro-poor one which apart from addressing the deplorable accommodation problem facing the security agencies will benefit many public and civil service workers who are constantly struggling with paying exorbitant rent advance to landlords.
“The NDC is at a loss as to whether Mr. Bomfeh’s action represents the position of the CPP. If not then it only confirms him as a mole of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the CPP. Having observed the utterances, association and action of Mr. Bomfeh over the last three years, one is amply convinced that he is being used by the NPP to create the impression that they are not alone in the unreasonable effort of preventing a project that is intended to benefit the larger interest of Ghana.”

The NDC said while it is no secret that security personnel especially the military and the police are ‘frustrated by lack of adequate, reasonable and decent’ duty posts which has a negative effect on the output of the essential services they perform for society, “It appears Mr. Bomfeh and the NPP he is working for are excited seeing hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians being housed in kiosks and containers and a large number of people in urban areas sleep on pavements, walkways and on streets.”
