The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr., has called on Prof. Frimpong Boateng, one of the aspirants vying for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party to quit the race just days before the primaries are held.
According to him, there is no point in Prof Boateng contesting the election if he has little faith in the system.
The heart surgeon had in an interview with Joy FM hinted of a plot by some party leadership to swing the election in favour of one of the candidates. He however mentioned no name, even though earlier allegations by representatives of four of the five candidates had pointed to Nana Akufo-Addo as a beneficiary of a rigging plot.
Malik Baako said on a Peace FM morning show programme Wednesday that Prof Frimpong Boateng must announce his exit from the race if he sincerely believes there is a plot to rig the election.
“Why are you going to run knowing that you are obviously going to lose because the stakes have been piled up against you?” he quizzed, adding “you don’t have faith in the system.”
Malik Baako said the pronouncements by Prof Boateng is a blot on what otherwise is an impeccable career by a public servant and a professional.
“I am really surprised; it is a certain deficit in his profile I never thought will occur,” he said, adding the fears by Prof Boateng were not justified.
The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide said the expanded nature of the primaries of the NPP will have a huge impact on the political terrain.
