Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has implored delegates of the New Patriotic Party to elect a candidate who is not just popular but ‘‘morally authoritative’’ to lead the party for the 2012 elections. In a statement issued on Thursday August 5, and signed by his Special Aide, Frank Agyekum, former President Kufuor called on delegates of the NPP to be “mindful of the good of the party and the nation as they prepare to vote for a flagbearer in Saturday’s election. “My prayer is that the elections will be conducted in a free and fair manner, to result in the candidate not only being popular, but also morally authoritative. “These attributes will facilitate in rallying the party into a united and winning force in the national elections, two years from now.” Below is the full statement PRESS STATEMENT BY H.E.
