Radiation from mobile phone masts is not harmful to humans. That is according to the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. Many Ghanaians have fiercely resisted the erection of telecommunication towers in their communities for fear it will negatively impact on their health over time. Mobile phone companies in particular have cited the phobia as one of the major factors inhibiting their expansion and efforts to improve the poor nature of their services. A Research Scientist with the Radiation Protection Institute however tells Joy Business pilot tests conducted around the country proves that the masts are not harmful. Professor Joseph Amoako however adds that it has secured a more advanced digital spectrum analyzer to improve its monitoring of emissions. The 50 thousand dollar equipment was acquired by the National Communications Authority.
